Character Creation Challenge 2024 - 22: Akira Kano [Alien RPG]

 First Alien RPG character

While Mutant: Year Zero is my main Free League love, Alien RPG and Coriolis may be join second. So here we go, let's start making some characters for those.

I will make this Alien character with campaign play in mind. Cinematic play seems more relevant and interesting for playing this game, but campaign is better for people that don't like the conflicting interest/pvp risk of the cinematic mode. And cinematic mode tends to get the premade adventures with characters already made so a bit pointless  to have the player make those anyway.


1. Choose your career.

Colonial Marshal.

Being the sheriff on some colony has such a wild west vibe to it, I can't pass on it.


2. Spend point on your attributes

14 points spread out, 2 min 4 max (except Key Attribute).

3. Spend points on your skills

10 Points to spread out. 3 max for career skills, 1 max for the others.

  • Piloting: 0
  • Observation: 3
  • Survival: 0
  • Comtech: 0
  • Command: 0

  • Medical Aid: 1

 One of the games where spotting everything might stress the shit out of the character, so might not be wise to roll 8 dice for those tests.


4. Choose your career talent

Investigator.

Just to spot even more things to get stressed by.


5. Choose your name

Akira Kano.

Akira from Akira, Kano from MK. Can't go wrong with a name like that!


6. Decide on your appearance

Chewing a toothpick.

A bit restless and constantly eyeing stuff and chewing on the toothpick if there is a slow thinking moment.


7. Decide on your personal Agenda

You did a bad thing in the past and it has come back to haunt you. You need to decide what you are made of.


8. Choose your Buddy and Rival

Will go back to this once characters are made. (If they are made, rather).


9. Pick your gear and a signature item

  • Signature Item: News clipping of an unsolved case.
  • .357 Magnum Revolver (2 reloads)

10. Roll for cash

Opinions

It's just something about the YZE character creation that works. The only thing is that I want more. A big appearance table. A big personal agenda table. A big signature item table. The system in this is a tad different from the Hindenburg system when it comes to dice, but most is the same. I like that it has Buddy, Rival and Personal Agenda - I think it's the best combo all the YZE games have had for personality traits.

I'd play the hell out of a character like this.
